Amcor and partners launch first-to-market all-PE spouted pouch for baby yogurt product

Mar 21, 2024

Amcor, a packaging solution provider, Cheer Pack North America, a spouted pouch packaging manufacturing, and Stonyfield Organic, an organic yogurt maker, collaborate to launch the first all-polyethylene (PE) spouted pouch for Stonyfield Organic’s YoBaby refrigerated yogurt.

Stonyfield Organic’s yogurt packaging is produced from Amcor’s all-PE film and Cheer Pack North America’s cap.

The new pouch uses Amcor’s AmPrima Plus, an all-PE film that meets the APR Design Guide for recyclability, and Cheer Pack North America’s Vizi cap. This provides a more sustainable packaging solution without compromising on performance.

The packaging removes the metallized or foil-based film layers, which is commonly found in standard pouch structures, while still providing superior heat resistance to allow for spout insertion.

With Cheer Pack North America’s Vizi cap, the amount of plastic used in reduced by over five tons per 10mm caps.

The packaging resulted is with premium graphic production, high moisture and oxygen barrier to preserve the content, and highly durable hermetic seals along the pack edges and around opening fitments for optimal performance under abusive conditions.

In addition, the package meets standard line speeds for converting at Cheer Pack North America and filling lines at Stonyfield Organic.
