Ampacet introduced new and safer UV barrier solution for food packaging.

Light exposure, especially UVA and UVB, damages food components such as fat, proteins and vitamins. Photo degradation often causes unwanted discoloration, off-flavors and odors, nutrient loss and ultimately, food waste. To protect food and UV light-sensitive products, UV barrier additives are added to packaging.

However, conventional UV additives contains phenolic benzotriazoles, which may raise environmental concerns.

Ampacet introduced a safer UV barrier solution. The new solution offers excellent optical properties and good UV barrier performance in the low UVA and UVB wavelength range. UVBLOCK 1496 is approved for food contact applications in Europe and the US.
