Visitors flooded Arburg’s booth at CHINAPLAS 2024.

For the first time, Arburg exhibited in the same hall as the Asian injection molding machine manufacturers, which had closer proximity to local customers.

“With our ‘local-to-local’ approach and product, we are also moving ever closer to our customers in China and Asia from a strategic perspective,” said Zhao Tong, Managing Director of Arburg China.

Machine demonstration in medical and mobility

A total of four machines were presented at CHINAPLAS 2024, demonstrating exciting examples of applications in the key areas of medical and mobility, which feature prominently in the dynamic Asian market.

The key highlight was the world premiere of Allrounder 470 E Golden Electric Evo, which is customized for the Asian market. It offers high precision of its injection units, short cycle times, faster dry cycle times and a reduction in the energy requirement of up to 50%. At the fair, the exhibit produced precise LSR components for use in cars. A Flexlift linear robotic system was tasked with handling the parts.

The premiere of Allrounder Golden Electric Evo attracted a crowd of visitors.

Arburg also showed its ability to implement turnkey systems in collaboration with local partners. It presented a production cell built around an Allrounder 1600 T vertical rotary table machine, which overmolded metal inserts with glass fiber-reinforced PBT to form complex fluid distributors.

For medical sector, the injection molding expert displayed the efficient hybrid Allrounder 470 H from the Hidrive (H) series. The production cell used a 2+2-cavity family mold to produce two different adapters for medical technology in a fully automatic process, including camera inspection and sample part storage. A Flexlift 10+2 linear robotic system was used for handling.

To demonstrate the efficiency of EOAT, a Freeformer 300-3X demonstrated in the Arburg Plastic Freeforming (APF) process, which was used to 3D print grippers in a multi-material combination. In general, Freeformers are suitable for the 3D printing of functional components, EOAT and operating equipment based on original plastic granules, even from very soft materials and in hard-soft combinations.

More on service and digitalization

“arburgSOLUTIONworld”, an exhibition area centered around a four-meter-high LED column, also met with great interest, where Arburg experts offered individual advice on important topics including digitalization, automation, molds, sustainability and service.

Arburg also provided individual advice in “arburgSOLUTIONworld” at CHINPLAS 2024.

Digitalization was also highlighted in the Arburg host computer system ALS, which is now available in version 8.0. This MES system allows efficient planning and control as well as 100% traceability.

New features for the “arburgXworld” customer portal were also presented, including “ask ARBURG”, an AI-supported premium app. The app incorporates the company's extensive injection molding expertise and can answer specific questions about machines and processes as well as identify and rectify the causes of faults, reducing efforts for on-site service.
