LyondellBasell launches new PA grade for automotive interior structure

Jul 30, 2024

LyondellBasell launches its new Schulamid ET100 product line, a polyamide-based compound designed for automotive interior structural solutions, such as door window frames.

LyondellBasell’s new Schulamid ET100 can be used in door window frames.

Schulamid ET100 features low density, compared to conventional structural materials, which allows lightweight vehicle construction and reduced carbon emissions. On the other hand, its enhanced toughness ensures parts perform well during both manufacturing and long-term use.

With excellent melt flow, the material enables easy injection molding and demolding of thin-wall complex parts with significantly reduced surface defects, stress marks and floating fibers on the part surfaces.

The material is available with various glass fiber reinforcement for suitable rigidity, allowing firm assembly and eliminating noise even when the car is running at high speeds.

It also allows seamless integration into a wide range of colors and visual effects, enabling visually appealing automotive designs. The solution eliminates the need for painting, which reduces volatile organic compound (VOC) associated with the painting process.

The Schulamid ET100 GF15 grade has already been successfully implemented in window frames by renowned Chinese OEM brands. Considering the performance and versatility of the grade, LyondellBasell plans to expand the product line’s development and promotion to encompass more automakers and applications.
