Avient introduces oxygen scavenger for food packaging
Avient Corporation announce the launch of the first grade in its new ColorMatrix Amosorb Oxyloop portfolio of oxygen scavengers – ColorMatrix Amosorb Oxyloop-1.

Avient’s new oxygen scavenging additive enhances recyclability of food packaging.
This cutting-edge oxygen scavenging additive is formulated to enhance the recycling capabilities of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) packaging, as well as providing packaging solutions that extend product shelf life, meet sustainability goals, and contribute to a more circular economy.
ColorMatrix Amosorb Oxyloop-1 additive meets direct food contact regulatory requirements in major markets. The grade has also earned the endorsement of the European Platform for Bottle Packaging (EPBP) for bottle-to-bottle recyclability for the colored recycled stream. This recognition underscores its ability to meet some of the highest industry standards for recyclability.
Additionally, this non-nylon-based product is compatible with recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET), making it an excellent choice for brands looking to incorporate higher levels of recycled material into their packaging.
One of the standout features of ColorMatrix Amosorb Oxyloop-1 is that it can deliver exceptional oxygen scavenging performance, even with up to 100% rPET content, so that packing applications for products like juices, vitamin drinks, ready-to-drink (RTD) teas, and certain dairy products maintain their freshness and shelf life.
Offering outstanding bottle clarity, this additive can be used in monolayer or multi-layer bottle structures as well as transparent applications that require a high-quality solution to support recyclability. The absence of nylon in this formulation can also minimize yellowing in the transparent recycling stream, preserving the aesthetic appeal of transparent bottle applications.
