Sour cream cups made with 30% rPS available in German supermarkets

Sep 3, 2025

In collaboration with ALDI SÜD and Unternehmensgruppe Theo Müller, INEOS Styrolution has launched its latest circular sour cream cups, made with 30% recycled polystyrene (rPS), available in ALDI SÜD stores across Germany since the beginning of this year.

This marks the second commercial rollout of food-grade recycled polystyrene by INEOS Styrolution in partnership with a leading German retailer. The sour cream cups have been recognized with the German Packaging Award in the “Sustainability: Recycled Content” category.

This initiative comes as the packaging industry prepares for stricter EU regulations under the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). INEOS Styrolution has already submitted a formal application to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) for its recycling technology, highlighting its commitment to regulatory compliance and innovation.

With multiple food-grade applications already on the market and more in development, INEOS Styrolution aims to lead the transition from single-use plastics to scalable, circular solutions for a sustainable future.
