VinFast reports larger loss in Q3 despite revenue growth

Nov 25, 2025

VinFast Auto Ltd., largest electric vehicle manufacturer in Vietnam, reported a larger loss in the third quarter of 2025 despite revenue growth, as costs tied to its global expansion continued to rise, reported Bloomberg.

The automaker reported a net loss of about VND 24 trillion (~US$ 910 million) for the third quarter, an increase of 81% YoY, while the total revenue rises 47% YoY to VND 18.1 trillion in the third quarter. However, the revenue was not enough to offset the surging production costs and expenses.

VinFast has been expanding into new markets, including a new factory opened in India in August, and a new plant in Indonesia which is expected to begin operations by the end of 2025.

“This quarter, VinFast became the first automobile brand to surpass 100,000 vehicles sold in Vietnam within the first three quarters of a single year, following thirteen consecutive months as the nation’s best-selling carmaker,” concluded Madame Thuy Le, Chairwoman of VinFast.

The company delivered 38,195 electric vehicles globally in the third quarter, a 74% YoY increase. It also delivered 120,052 e-scooters and e-bikes in the third quarter, representing an increase of 535% YoY.
