Cortec supports double-sided anticorrosion solution for multiple industries

Apr 9, 2026

Cortec Corporation offers a simple and effective corrosion protection solution – CorShield VpCI-146 Paper – a proven, now double-sided anticorrosion solution for end-user sustainability and automation goals across multiple industries, including automotive.

CorShield VpCI-146 Paper offers corrosion protection to automotive parts.

Whether used to wrap individual gears and bearings or interleave entire pallets of parts, CorShield VpCI-146 Paper emits Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitors from both sides of the paper, forming a protective molecular layer on metal parts inside the package as long as it remains closed.

When the parts are removed, the corrosion inhibitors float away – no additional degreasing required. This simplicity is coupled with sustainability as CorShield VpCI-146 Paper is a USDA Certified Biobased Product that can be recycled into new paper products after use.

Providing protection for automotive parts

One manufacturer who has used CorShield VpCI-146 Paper for decades to sandwich layers of brake rotors found that it was also compatible with the automation of their packaging process in 2020.

Under the new method, a machine would unroll the paper and cut it to size. A robot would place the paper between each layer of rotors as it filled the pallet. The package was ready to ship after a final automated wrapping with Cor-Pak VpCI Stretch Film.

Also in bag shape

While wrapping a part in CorShield VpCI-146 Paper and taping it shut often gives plenty of protection during short end-to-end shipments or storage in a box in a dry warehouse, it can also enhance protection inside VpCI®-126 Bags.

Workers frequently wrap individual parts in CorShield VpCI-146 Paper before placing them in a VpCI-126 Bag, adding an extra dose of Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitors along with cushioning and slight moisture absorption for sensitive components that are inadvertently packaged too hot off the line.

Corrosion protection was once complicated and messy, but packaging materials like CorShield VpCI-146 Paper have changed the landscape with clean, dry, double-sided corrosion protection.
