How Is Vioneo Making Fossil-Free Plastics Work in Real-World Applications?
Can plastics begin somewhere other than oil?
Vioneo is building a commercial pathway to produce fossil-free polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) from green methanol, helping decouple plastics production from fossil raw materials.

Designed as drop-in materials, Vioneo’s fossil-free PP and PE can be used in medical devices, automotive, personal care, and household products without requiring a complete change in existing value chains. In addition to recyclability, Vioneo can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 6 kg for every 1 kg of plastic produced.
To support supply reliability, Vioneo emphasizes full physical segregation and traceability across sourcing, manufacturing, and delivery, with production facilities powered by renewable energy.
Its first commercial-scale plant in China represents a €1.5 billion investment and is planned to produce around 300,000 tonnes of fossil-free plastics per year, helping customers explore scalable lower-carbon material solutions.
