Wanhua Chemical and Nippon Paint China have expanded their long-standing strategic partnership to accelerate the development of green, low-carbon technologies and advanced coating raw materials. The fruits of this collaboration were prominently featured at Nippon Paint China’s new product launch event on June 12, 2026.

During a recent themed technical exchange meeting on TU innovation and R&D, both companies signed a new strategic cooperation agreement. This agreement officially transitions their relationship into a phase of deep, collaborative development.

Despite broader market volatility, the partnership has proven highly resilient, yielding significant growth in architectural coating emulsions. Wanhua Chemical has solidified its position as a core emulsion supplier for Nippon Paint, while the two companies continue to make steady progress in other key sectors, including aliphatic diisocyanates (ADI) and petrochemicals.

A major focus of the new agreement is the development of next-generation waterborne polyurethane solutions for architectural coatings. These novel solutions enhance both application versatility and film performance, seamlessly blending environmental sustainability with high practicality.

This shift from a traditional raw material supply model to joint R&D marks a major milestone in their technological alliance. Grounded in four core pillars—Quality Living, Green Environmental Protection, Circular Economy, and Efficiency Protection—Wanhua Chemical presented a portfolio of cutting-edge technologies to guide future product co-creation.

Moving from basic raw material supply to joint development marks a new phase of technological collaboration between the two sides. Centered on four key themes – Quality Living, Green Environmental Protection, Circular Economy, and Efficient Protection – Wanhua Chemical also systematically presented a range of cutting-edge technological achievements, defining project directions for future product co-creation.

“Wanhua Chemical's innovative R&D capabilities and green technologies have provided solid support for us,” said Cai Zhiwei, Senior Vice President of the TU Product Development & Management Headquarters of Nippon Paint China. “This strategic cooperation upgrade not only strengthens the synergistic advantages of both sides in the coatings field but will also jointly explore new application tracks for waterborne polyurethanes, driving the industry towards a sustainable future."
