Fast and reliable: PPWR Compliance Compass expands with specialized AI chatbot

Jul 2, 2026

R-Cycle and TILISCO are expanding the PPWR Compliance Compass to include an integrated PPWR AI chatbot. Users can now ask regulatory questions directly within the tool and receive well-reasoned answers in real time.

The PPWR Compliance Compass is so far the only PPWR compliance solution on the market that integrates an AI chatbot specifically trained to meet the requirements of the European Packaging Regulation.

“Many companies face the challenge of correctly interpreting and implementing the complex requirements of the PPWR,” explained Till Isensee, founder and CEO of TILISCO. “With the integration of the AI chatbot into the PPWR Compliance Compass, users can now get quick answers directly within the context of their compliance process. This saves time and provides additional confidence.”

Specialized AI chatbot with PPWR-focused knowledge base

The integrated PPWR AI chatbot provides fast and reliable guidance, helping international companies navigate the regulation and prepare their products for compliance before entering the European market.

This specialized AI chatbot is based on what is known as “narrow AI” and was developed by TILISCO in collaboration with the AI specialist finias with a clear focus on the PPWR subject area.

Unlike general AI systems, it draws on a limited, curated, and continuously updated knowledge base. This includes the full text of the regulation, relevant legal foundations, expert interpretations, recommendations for action, practical examples, and extensive collections of questions and answers.

The PPWR AI chatbot provides direct access to regulatory expertise. For example, users can determine in advance which of their products are defined as packaging under the PPWR and are subject to the new regulations.

Since the knowledge database is continuously reviewed and expanded, this ensures that the information remains up to date even as the PPWR is amended and further clarified in the future.

More about PPWR Compliance Compass

Who is the development partners?

The PPWR Compliance Compass was developed as part of an exclusive partnership between ProData GmbH and TILISCO GmbH, in collaboration with finias GmbH as a technology partner.

The solution combines the established R-Cycle infrastructure for standardized packaging data management – based on open GS1 standards – with TILISCO’s regulatory and technical expertise. ProData – as a specialized implementation partner for R-Cycle and GS1 standards – developed the Software-as-a-Service solution and unveiled it for the first time at Interpack 2026.

Who is the target user of the PPWR Compliance Compass?

The PPWR Compliance Compass is particularly valuable for companies outside the European Union that export packaging or packaged goods to the EU market. Since compliance with the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) is a prerequisite for market access, manufacturers and suppliers worldwide need a clear understanding of the new regulatory requirements.

What are the functions of the PPWR Compliance Compass?

The AI-powered tool automatically extracts and aggregates relevant packaging data from various sources, such as PDFs, emails, Excel spreadsheets, and supplier documents. An integrated GAP analysis then checks the data against the current PPWR requirements and visualizes the compliance status using an intuitive traffic-light system.

Missing information can be requested directly from suppliers through the system. Once all required information is available, the legally required declaration of conformity can be generated at the click of a button.

Implementation?

First customers are already successfully using the PPWR Compliance Compass to prove PPWR compliance for their packaging portfolio by the August 12, 2026, deadline.
