Nescafé pop-up: First store using 3D-printed biodegradable materials in Latin America

A prefabricated support structure is constructed using glued laminated timber (GLT), made from reforested pine trees, which ensures a renewable and eco-friendly source.

The use of 3D-printing technology allows architects to create an intricate and unique design, while reducing waste during the construction process.

With computer-generated mold which optimize material usage, the shell covering the structure is created using minimal materials.

The store is in dome-shaped design along five axes with five glassed archways. All-round views of the surrounding green-space are delivered from the five archways, inviting the outdoors into interior spaces.

A central glass skylight allows natural light to sink in, enhancing the ambiance by invoking a temple-like atmosphere inspired by nature.

Once the pop-up store is no longer required, it will be dismantled, wood will be recycled and plaster will be crushed and repurposed as agricultural fertilizer.

The store follows Nescafe’s commitment to sustainability, including its coffee machines incorporate recycled plastic recovered from the ocean and biodegradable capsules.
