Revolutionizing EV design: The radical Uni Wheel system
Hyundai Motor Company and Kia Corporation developed a radical new Universal Wheel Drive System – Uni Wheel, to reduce spaces for engine, transmission and drive shafts, allowing more space for designability and functionality.
Unveiled at a media event in Seoul on November 29, the setup swaps from one big motor to four smaller ones. Each of those motor is located right beside one of the vehicle’s wheels, and is connected to it via a short drive shaft.
