SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association has appointed Commercial Plastics Recycling (CPR) as the official recycling company for NPE 2015.

CPR will be responsible for collecting and sorting scrap from equipment operated by exhibitors participating in SPI's "NPE Recycles" program, and recycling it at the company headquarters in Tampa, Florida, which is fewer than 113km from the site of NPE 2015 at the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) in Orlando.

The NPE Recycles program for NPE 2012 handled 118 metric tons of materials. The total for NPE 2015 is likely to be even greater, based on the number and sizes of booths taken at the Space Draw in February.

SPI maintains a "zero waste" policy for NPE, requiring that all process scrap generated on the show floor be diverted from landfill. Recognition will be provided for participating exhibitors at the show website, in the Show Guide, Show Daily and via on-site signage.

Exhibitors not taking part in the NPE Recycles program will be responsible for having their scrap delivered to the OCCC loading dock for sorting off-site.

"We will remove all of the processing scrap generated by participating exhibitors, from booth setup to the end of the show, and do so with minimal cost to these companies," says Paul Benvenuti, who is responsible for purchasing and sales at CPR. "To that end we will work directly with exhibitors to schedule our services, provide more packaging than in the past to facilitate collection, and provide more support staff on the show floor."
