Coca-Cola to launch plastic container recycling program in Kenya

Global beverage company Coca-Cola is working alongside Safepak, Highland Mineral Water Co as well as recycling company Greenplast International to address the severe plastic bottle waste problem in Africa. The beverage giant has set targets to recycle 70% plastics containers in Kenya by 2015.
PET Recycling Co, a new company formed by Coca Cola and the other two beverage group, will work with Greenplast in Nairobi, Kenya, to collect plastics and export the material to China. Currently several drop-off centers around the Kenyan capital is in operations.
Estimated by Greenplast, the project would collect 4200 metric tons of recycled containers by 2015.
