Mitsubishi Electric to set up recycling plant for used home appliances

Mitsubishi Electric, the Japan-based electrical appliance manufacturer, is planning to build a recycling plant that can efficiently collect the plastics in used home appliances. The operation is expected go on-stream next fall.
Indifferent from conventional procedure requiring workers to separate plastic parts manually, the Mitsubishi Electric plant employs electrostaticity to rapidly separate plastics from metal.
The plant, when in full operation, is estimated to collect 7,000 tons of waste plastics annually, thus upgrading the current recycling capability by 11 times.
