China Plastics Processing Industry Association (CPPIA) has awarded the municipal government of Longjiang, a town in Shunde, Guangdong Province, China, the name of the "Town of plastic construction material".

Longjiang, according to sources, gathers the country's largest cluster for plastic construction material production. The town is also a center for R&D and goods distribution, attracting leading material providers in the material business.

Output value of plastic construction material in Longjiang exceeded RMB10 billion in 2007, representing a significant portion among the town's RMB20.53 billion total production output value.

There are about 200 enterprises working in this industry, producing more than 1 million tons of material per year.

Government officials from Longjiang expects production capacity of plastic construction material can double in 2010 under the "Eleventh Five-year plan" and reach 2 million tons annually, with estimated sales revenue exceeding RMB25 billion.
