China needs more quakeproof rubber products for construction uses

Due to the 5.12 Sichuan earthquake, China's rubber industry should pay more attention to innovation and products' development, being able to provide more quakeproof rubber products, says Fan Rende, deputy chairman of China Rubber Industry Association.
Mr. Fan also calls on China's construction industry to publish relevant standards involving quakeproof rubber products for canonical application in construction.
Currently, China's quakeproof rubber products are mostly focused on the automotive industry. However, Japan, where earthquakes happen frequently, has already applied basic quakeproof technology in large and medium-sized cities.
