Demand for construction plastic pipes reach 5 billion meters in the "Eleventh-Five Year" period

Source: Date :2008-04-22 Editor :ACH
To answer the call of energy-saving as suggested in the "Eleventh-Five Year Plan", China will gradually replace 70% of the country's construction pipes by plastics. It is expected that the annual demand for plastic pipes will reach 5 billion meters from 2006 to 2010.

According to Wang Zhanjie, a pipe specialist from CPPIA (China Plastics Processing Industry Association), manufacturing of plastics pipes consume far less energy if compared to that of steel or cast iron pipes. In addition, the surface roughness of plastic pipes is much smaller (0.009 to 0.01 mm) than that of steel or cast iron pipes, making them more energy saving when transporting water.

Scientists find that plastic water pipes provide incomparable energy efficiency than those made from steel. Plastic pipes save 62-75% more energy in water feeding pipes and 55% to 68% in water discharging pipes.

In future, it is estimated that 80% of the construction water discharging pipes; 70% of the rain water discharging pipes; 80% of the construction feeding pipes, hot water and internal heating pipes; 70% of the water supply pipes; 70% of the gas supply pipes; and 90% of the insulation jackets for construction wires and cables will be provided by plastics in China.
