Plastics recycling plant opened in Beijing

A Beijing plastics recycling processing plant, which is capable of recycling 60,000 tons of waste plastics annually, has come to operation.
The plant, operated under Beijing Incom Resources Recovery Co Ltd, with annual processing capacity accounting for one third of Beijing's annual waste plastics, can turn out 30,000 tons of clean polyester pieces and 20,000 tons of bottled polyester chips every year.
The plant will be part of the running scheme aimed to foster plastic bottle recycling in Beijing. According to the estimation done by the Beijing Municipal Packing Technology Association, waste plastic bottles will reach 300,000 tons in 2010, a double from 2007.
The association adds that it will further encourage enterprises to join the building of logistics and sorting centers for waste plastics. Four such centers are expected to open in 2007, jointly serving as a recycling system for waste plastic bottles.
