Waste tire recycling program launched in Jiejiang, China

Jul 28, 2006
In Jiejiang Province of China, a RMB3 million program has lately been launched to boost the recycling of waste tires.

The program, with about 30 tire distributors joining, will run till August 31. During that period of time, a RMB100 coupon for buying tires will be issued to truck owners for old truck tires collected at designated points across the province. The waste tires will be recycled by means of pre-vulcanization, and so on.

Following the suggestions of experts from China Rubber Industry Association, Jiejiang will very soon start a tire recycling and a reclaimed rubber and rubber powder manufacturing project.

At present, China recycles less than 45% of waste tires, whereas it is more than 70% in the US and Japan, saving several billion US dollars every year.
