Materialise, a Belgium headquartered company professionalizes in 3D printing of personalized medical solutions, opens a new 3D printing facility in Michigan, US to accelerates the delivery of patient-specific medical implants to local patients.

 

The new facility specializes in the 3D printing of personalized titanium cranio-maxillofacial (CMF) implants, which are used for facial reconstructive surgery.

The new 3D printing facility in Michigan focuses on personalized titanium CMF implants.

 

Initially, the company manufactured titanium CMF implants solely in Belgium. With the new facility in US, it can fulfil surgeons’ needs with greater reliability while significantly saves the delivery time of personalized implants to hospitals across the US.

 

3D printing solutions in medical sectors bring added value to personalized patient care. Patient-specific 3D printed medical solutions include anatomical models for diagnostic purposes and surgical guides and implants to enhance surgical efficiency, predictability and accuracy of surgical outcomes.

These solutions are designed to boost surgeons’ comfort before and during surgery, leading to more predictable and accurate surgical outcomes, resulting increasingly adoption of 3D printing in medical sectors, which brings personalized care closer to patients, and lower overall costs.

 

Materialise has more than three decades of experience in developing medical solutions and offers a comprehensive range of 3D-printed guides and implants. Out of its 280,000 personalized 3D-printed instruments and implants per year, the company produces 160,000 outputs for the US market, which consists of 57% of its worldwide market.

 

The company also staged numerous groundbreaking medical 3D printing applications in US, including one of the first personalized CMF implant portfolios and first simultaneous double hand and face transplant.
