Trinseo launches its first ester-based TPU for footwear applications

Trinseo has launched a new transparent thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) grade – APILON 52 XB-75A CRISTALLO, for footwear applications, which is the company’s first ester-based transparent thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU).

Trinseo’s new transparent TPE grade fits for application in outsoles and shoe parts.

 

The new grade offers excellent processability and fast cycle times using injection molding technology. It fulfils a unique need in footwear industry by delivering transparent TPU for outsoles and shoe parts with high weatherability, color consistency and outstanding mechanical performance.

 

APILON 52 XB-75A CRISTALLO is added in the company’s portfolio of solutions for footwear market, which also includes a broad array of bio-based and recycled-content containing resins to support the industry’s sustainability efforts.

 

Marlie Koekenberg, Sales Director EMEA, concluded that with the new grade added to their portfolio, the company can better serve footwear manufacturers and help them keep up with the trends.
