Anti-yellowing and durable iPhone case made with BASF’s TPU

Feb 19, 2021

Hamee Corporation, a leading Japanese brand for mobile device accessories, has unveiled a new line of custom-designed protective cases made with BASF’s Elastollan thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) for the new iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro. Thanks to its high durability, anti-yellowing, and transparency, Elastollan is a preferred material for protective cases that enable clarity and aesthetics.

The multi-material hybrid structure using Elastollan provides Hamee’s range of mobile phone cases with ultimate protection against bumps and scratches. The sleek, abrasion-resistant finishing enables iPhone 12 and 12 Pro users to match their devices with protective yet stylish phone cases offering a highly transparent design.

Elastollan is selected for Hamee’s new line of protective cases, HIGHER. This innovative TPU is used in the multi-material hybrid structure and its UV resistance is optimized in the new formulation, preventing discoloration or yellowing for the lifetime of the mobile phone cover.

“The newly introduced HIGHER smartphone accessory is an example of our ongoing efforts for advanced and innovative design. The transparent mobile phone cover is classic in design, but provides consumers with quality and value as it is made of best-in-class materials for durability and aesthetics,” said Takuro Watabe, Quality Control Team leader, Hamee Corporation.

“We are excited to have collaborated with Hamee for their new range of iPhone 12 mobile cases,” added Minli Zhao, Vice President, Consumer Industry, BASF Performance Materials division, Asia Pacific. “Elastollan provides the best quality and design freedom while adhering to the latest mobile phone trends of today.”
