CJ Biomaterials developed a new PHA-based polybag with similar properties to traditional polybags with petroleum-based plastic material in terms of durability, opacity and adhesive properties.

 

CJ Olive Young, South Korea-based health and beauty retailer, will incorporate this new PHA-based bag into their same-day delivery service.

CJ Olive Young will incorporate CJ Biomaterials’ new PHA-based bags in same-day delivery service.

 

PHAs work well as modifiers to other polymers or biopolymers. It can also increase bio-based content, accelerate biodegradation and improve the functional properties of resins and finished products.

 

CJ Biomaterials’ polybag is made exclusively from biodegradable materials, eliminating the use of polyvinylchloride (PVC).

 

The bag is durable enough to carry heavy or sharp-edged items without tearing. It has excellent opacity, preventing contents from being visible from the outside. The bag also has adhesive properties that allow shipping labels to be applied and easily remain in place, allowing multiple applications of the polybag.

 

The South Korea-based PHA biopolymers producer continues to expand on the applications of its PHA technology, including PHA-based microwaveable paper coating in instant food packaging and PHA-based cosmetic packaging.
