Embossed label water bottle with Luminy PLA bioplastics

TotalEnergies Corbion and Korean water producer Sansu signed an agreement on developing embossed label water bottle with Luminy PLA bioplastics to speed adoption of recycled PLA as feedstock.

As traditional method to recycle post-consumer PLA involves removal of labels and caps. The two partners jointly develop a 100% PLA bottle with an embossed label, avoiding the inefficient labels and caps removal processes and expediting the processing of post-consumer recycled PLA bottles.

 

Recent advancements in recycling technology enables the seamless transformation of used PLA into recycled PLA with properties equivalent to virgin Luminy PLA, including food contact approval.


The collaborated development enables Sansu to adopt “bottle-to-bottle” closed-loop cycled in water bottle packaging.


“This partnership is another example of how TotalEnergies engages with partners in the value chain to advance the adoption of Luminy PLA bioplastics and contribute to lowering carbon emissions from plastic usage,” concluded Thomas Philipon, CEO of TotalEnergies Corbion.
