KraussMaffei to present sandwich application with recyclate at Fakuma
At Fakuma 2024, KraussMaffei will present its Turtle project, a small blue turtle – with mechanically recycled PC/ABS as core and chemically recycled ABS as outer layer – produced on an all-electric PXZ 121-380-180 Multinject using the sandwich process.

The blue turtle is produced with recycled material on an all-electric PXZ 121-380-180 Multinject.
With symbolic meaning of wisdom, longevity and wealth, turtle also represents the innovative processes and materials are needed to ensure a balance between industrial progress and the preservation of natural habitats.
Closed loop: Recycled materials and process
Both core and outer skin materials are from ELIX Polymers, which, like KraussMaffei, is also a Sinochem Group company.
The core material of the durable turtle consists of mechanically recycled PC/ABS E-LOOP 5120MR while the visible, high-quality outer skin is made of chemically recycled and processed ABS E-LOOP P2H-AT CR, which is also available in various colors.
Another sustainable aspect is achieved by new mini sprue mill from Getecha. The cold runner sprue is removed, shredded and fed directly back into the production process for the core material, closing the material cycle.
Sandwich platen for higher flexibility
With compact, space-saving Z-position with electric injection units, the all-electric PXZ 121 Multinject enables a clamping force of 1200 kN.

In addition, the attached, removable sandwich platen offers higher flexibility in production. This allows the PXZ 121 to be used as a single-component, two-component or sandwich machine, without any additional effort.
The simple switchover from skin to core melt flow also ensures both flexibility and high quality. The skin material can be added to seal the sprue point while it is also possible to switch between components several times. This also allows marbling effects in design.
Temperature control to optimize cycle times
CONTURA MTC, a partner of KraussMaffei, provides the right mold and the dynamic mold temperature control. They are characterized by near-contour temperature control and thus optimize the entire production process and achieve high-quality surface.
Premiere of new LRXplus linear robot
The new LRXplus linear robot will make its debut at Fakuma together with the MC7 control system. LRXplus linear robot performs automation tasks including part removal, separation from the sprue, separation into the grinder and depositing on the belt.
With compatible interfaces, the LRXplus can be combined with almost any system, either with KraussMaffei injection molding machines, injection molding machines from other manufacturers or as a standalone solution for all other automation tasks.
APCplus for process control
APCplus (Adaptive Process Control) is a patented technology from KraussMaffei. It is the only machine function on the market that uses material-specific compression curves for process control.
The APCplus database contains all common material types that can be selected by customers for process control.
