Amcor wins honors at Flexible Packaging Achievement Awards

Mar 26, 2025

Amcor, the global packaging leader, has secured two Silver Awards in the Sustainability category at this year's Flexible Packaging Association Achievement Awards.

The long-running FPA awards program, which dates back to 1956, evaluated 226 entries this year before selecting just 20 winners. Amcor received this recognition for its groundbreaking Amcor Moda Vacuum Packaging for U.S. Beef Exports and its Once Upon a Farm CHEERCircle PE Recycle-Ready Spouted Pouch Using AmPrima® Plus Film and the Vizi Cap.

Amcor received awards for its Moda Vacuum Packaging for U.S. Beef Exports and Once Upon a Farm CHEERCircle PE Recycle-Ready Spouted Pouch Using AmPrima Plus Film and the Vizi Cap.

Amcor Moda Vacuum Packaging represents a significant leap forward for meat processors handling U.S. beef exports. This integrated solution merges tubular rollstock with on-demand bag production, delivering multiple sustainability advantages.

By printing directly on the packaging material during production, the system eliminates manual labeling while reducing material costs by 30%, inventory requirements and packaging SKUs. The palletized tubestock format generates 40% more bags per shipment compared to traditional shrink bags, dramatically cutting transportation emissions and warehouse space needs.

By adopting Amcor's Moda packaging system, processors achieve a 40% reduction in both logistics footprint and inventory space requirements. The palletized tubestock format generates superior packaging efficiency, producing 40% more bags per pallet than conventional shrink bags.

This versatile solution accommodates all meat processing variations (bone-in and boneless) while streamlining SKU management. Digital controls allow instant adjustments to package dimensions and graphics with the touch of a button.

The company's second award recognizes its partnership with Once Upon a Farm™ to create a fully recyclable spouted pouch for refrigerated food products. The innovative packaging combines Amcor's AmPrima® Plus film, certified as recyclable by the APR Design® Guide, with Cheer Pack's Vizi™ cap technology.

Independent lifecycle analysis verified by the Carbon Trust shows the new solution delivers measurable sustainability improvements, including 5% lower non-renewable energy use and 22% reduced carbon emissions per pouch compared to previous packaging. The Vizi™ cap alone contributes an additional 22% carbon footprint reduction while cutting plastic content in the cap and spout assembly by over 30%.
