GreenPlast returns from 27 to 30 May 2025 as a key event for the plastics industry, with a renewed focus on practical solutions for a sustainable future. Central themes will include the circular economy, mechanical and chemical recycling, technological innovation, and industrial strategies to reduce the sector’s environmental impact.

The “Shaping a Sustainable Future for Plastics” conference, organised in collaboration with AMI (Applied Market Information), will offer a unique opportunity to assess the progress made and the challenges ahead. Structured into thematic sessions, the programme will address key topics such as plastic waste management, recycling, energy efficiency, material sustainability, and the development of bioplastics.

Opening Day: The Regulatory Landscape and Industry Voices

The conference will open with contributions from experts and representatives of leading companies including Lavazza, Crocco, Versalis and the EuPC (European Plastics Converters), who will analyse the European legislative context and its implications for the plastics industry.

Day Two: Sourcing Plastic Waste

The second day will focus on the sourcing of recyclable materials, with an overview of European markets by AMI and contributions from waste management companies such as Montello. A panel led by Politecnico di Milano will follow, exploring strategies to enhance product sustainability throughout their lifecycle.

Day Three: Spotlight on Mechanical Recycling

The third day will be dedicated to the outlook and challenges of mechanical recycling. Following an overview of emerging technologies for plastics recovery, industry associations such as Amaplast and Corepla will share their perspectives. The day will conclude with a presentation on upcycling by Sirmax, showcasing real-world case studies. On the same day, Assorimap will host a session entitled “Mechanical Recycling of Plastics – 2024. Market Circularity”, including the presentation of its annual report on post-consumer secondary raw materials, produced by Plastic Consult. A roundtable discussion will follow, focusing on recycled plastics market circularity from both national and European perspectives. Speakers will include Maria Cristina Poggesi (Director of IPPR), Paolo Glerean (Chairman of Recyclass), and Stefano Chiaramondia (Chairman of international e-commerce platform PlasticFinder).

Day Four: The Future of Chemical Recycling

The final day will be dedicated to chemical recycling, with presentations on the most significant advances in recycling technologies and packaging reuse sustainability projects. Speakers will include some of the world’s leading polymer producers, such as LyondellBasell, as well as companies like Versalis, Sabic, and Trinseo, who will present their latest R&D achievements in sustainable materials.

A Growing Exhibition Landscape

With around 200 exhibitors spread across 5,500 square metres, GreenPlast 2025 offers a comprehensive showcase of cutting-edge technologies for the transformation, recycling, and reuse of plastics. The event will host official delegations of buyers from over 20 countries across Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Middle East, coordinated by ICE-Agency and leading industry associations.

More than one hundred highly qualified operators, representing companies active in plastics production and recycling, will attend in search of innovative solutions to enhance the competitiveness and efficiency of their production processes, with a strong focus on energy efficiency and environmental impact reduction.

An online matchmaking platform will enable buyers to schedule targeted meetings with Italian exhibitors in advance, making their visit even more effective and strategically valuable.
