BASF Coatings and Xiaomi to develop 100 car paint colors
BASF Coatings collaborates with Xiaomi to support the automaker’s plan to co-develop 100 car paint colors over the next three years. The initiative aims to drive innovation and personalization in automotive color design, redefining the visual language of smart mobility.

For the first batch of new colors, BASF Coatings contributed throughout the entire process from R&D to mass production, providing full-layer coating solutions from e-coat, primer, basecoat to clearcoat.
These colors include “Velocity Red”, “Dawn Pink (Matte)”, “Nightfall Rose”, and “Buttercup Yellow”, along with the striking “Amethyst Purple” created using BASF’s dual-layer clearcoat technology for a crystal-like finish on Xiaomi’s custom models.

“Nightfall Rose”: Warm-cool contrast with aluminum and pearlescent pigments for color-shifting beauty

“Amethyst Purple”: ProGloss 2K and ProGloss Plus 2K dual-layer clearcoat locks light for a mirror-like crystal effect
