Mitsui Chemicals and Polyplastics partner in marketing

Oct 30, 2025

Mitsui Chemicals and Polyplastics have entered into a contract regarding marketing operations for engineering plastics products, specifically ARLEN and AURUM brands developed and sold by Mitsui Chemicals.

Under this contract, starting January 1, 2026, Mitsui Chemicals will consign certain marketing operations to Polyplastics. Polyplastics will exclusively handle marketing activities such as customer interface, new customer development, and technical support.

Mitsui Chemicals will continue to handle research and development, manufacturing, logistics and other such business operations for ARLEN and AURUM. There are no plans to change commercial distribution or related procedures.

Mitsui Chemicals aims to achieve further business growth by leveraging Polyplastics' customer network and solution capabilities to meet the growing demand for high-performance engineering plastics in the automotive, electrical and electronics sectors.

Meanwhile, Polyplastics will enhance its ability to provide solutions to an even larger number of customers by enriching its product portfolio with the addition of marketings operations for ARLEN and AURUM.

Both companies will explore further opportunities to deepen their collaboration in the future.

More about ARLEN and AURUM

Developed and launched by Mitsui Chemicals in the 1980s, ARLEN is a polyamide known for its high heat resistance and excellent chemical resistance. By incorporating aromatic rings into its basic skeleton, the material achieves high heat resistance, boasting a melting point of 330°C, and overcomes the problem of water absorption that had been inherent to conventional polyamide resins.

AURUM is a heat-resistant thermoplastic polyimide resin, offering excellent heat resistance, mechanical properties and electrical properties, as well as thermoplasticity suitable for injection and extrusion molding. The material has a glass transition temperature of 250°C and is capable of withstanding long-term use at 240°C.
