Gurit officially inaugurated its Advanced Composites Research & Development Center in the Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA), China, on November 17, marking a significant milestone in the company’s global strategy, strengthening its ‘R&D-to-production’ capabilities and reaffirming its long-term commitment to the Chinese market.

The inauguration ceremony of Gurit’s Advanced Composites Research & Development Center in Tianjin, China, November 17.

Gurit, headquartered in Wattwil, Switzerland, is a leading manufacturer and supplier of advanced composite materials, tooling automation, core kitting and composite structural engineering services, supporting industrial markets such as renewable energy, marine, building & construction, transportation and more.

Gurit’s new R&D center is set to be fully operational by the end of 2025. The center will drive the development of next-generation, high-performance composite technologies. It complements Gurit’s existing R&D centers and composite testing hubs in the UK, India and New Zealand, creating a more integrated global innovation network.

The Tianjin center will focus primarily on the research, development, analysis, and testing of PET materials. Its close proximity to Gurit’s Tianjin PET manufacturing facility will streamline new product introduction, shorten development cycles, and enable faster responses to innovation needs in the wind energy sector and beyond.

During the inauguration, Gurit and TEDA representatives discussed opportunities to jointly build advanced industrial ecosystems and address key technological challenges, supporting the region’s transition toward high-end, intelligent manufacturing.
