Indorama Ventures, a world’s leading PET recycler, supports the Guardiãs do Mar Project, a Brazilian socio-environmental organization that promotes ocean conservation, recycling awareness, and community empowerment.

The project focuses public awareness, waste collection, recycling, and creative reuse. Its initiative demonstrates how community-level action can contribute to broader circular solutions.

A new phase is launched in 2026, expanding the activities across three strategic regions in Brazil — São Paulo, Santos, and Pernambuco, promoting public awareness, plastic waste collection and the transformation of plastic materials.

With 20 recycling facilities across 11 countries, Indorama Ventures has recycled more than 160 billion PET bottles, and counting.

Following the collection phase, part of the PET collected will be directed to industrial recycling, while the remaining materials will be used as raw material for hands-on workshops organized by Guardiãs do Mar.

Led by a design expert, these workshops will transform collected plastics into musical instruments and art installations, highlighting the principles of the circular economy and demonstrating how waste materials can be transformed into valuable resources.

In São Paulo, Centro Universitário Belas Artes will serve as the initial collection point. The initiative will also extend to public schools, communities and partner institutions in Santos and Pernambuco, further expanding the project’s reach and social impact.

In Brazil, Indorama Ventures also supports other environmental education initiatives through the Waste Hero program in Suape, Pernambuco. The program works directly with schools, communities, and young people to promote awareness of waste management, recycling and shared environmental responsibility, while encouraging positive behavioral change from an early stage.
