Grand Resource: Virgin PP grades engineered for recycling
Most attention in plastics circularity goes to collection, sorting, and reprocessing. But how well a plastic part recycles — and what quality of recyclate it becomes — is largely decided when the resin is designed.
High ash content, odor, and extractables in virgin polypropylene (PP) become impurity load and batch variation downstream, and a grade built narrowly for one application often survives sorting and re-pelletizing poorly.
Dongguan Grand Resource Science & Technology Co., Ltd. (巨正源科技), based on Lisha Island in Shatian, Dongguan, is a core polypropylene producer in South China. It works on green manufacturing and iterative upgrading of polymer materials, building low-carbon, readily recyclable, and highly adaptable characteristics into the material at the point of production.
A 1.2 million-ton base
The Lisha Island fine chemical park site covers 984 mu, with total investment above RMB 10 billion and a 1.2 million ton/year high-performance polypropylene project, alongside 50,000 ton/year of by-product high-purity hydrogen.
Digital control spans inbound material, processing, energy management, and outbound logistics. Rooftop photovoltaics, wastewater reuse, and solid-waste recovery run alongside process and equipment upgrades, and the site holds Guangdong green factory and smart factory recognition.
Steam-driven units have been replaced with high-efficiency electric drives backed by distributed PV, cutting energy use and carbon emissions per ton.

Grades designed for the back end
The company operates a provincial enterprise technology center and has developed 44 differentiated PP grades — injection molding grades for multiple applications, fiber grades, high-clarity blown film, antibacterial, and foaming — serving medical and hygiene, food packaging, appliances, automotive parts, and geotextiles, with several recognized as provincial-level high-quality high-tech products.
Formulation work targets ash content, odor, and extractables so that after its service life the material suits sorting, crushing, and re-pelletizing with less impurity and less batch-to-batch variation.
Chain coordination
An owned chemical terminal, tank storage, and e-commerce platform handle trading, storage, logistics, and traceability. Upstream, the company continues reducing the carbon footprint of virgin material. Downstream, it works with recyclers, compounders, and brand owners on virgin-recyclate blending to meet low-carbon certification and carbon-footprint requirements, with the aim of moving recyclate into automotive, appliance, and higher-value packaging.
About the CRRE exhibitor
Dongguan Grand Resource Science & Technology Co., Ltd. operates a 1.2 million ton/year polypropylene plant using UNIPOL technology, producing homopolymer and random copolymer PP across eight series including raffia, sheet, film, fiber, and thin-wall injection molding. It is a designated futures delivery warehouse for LPG, propylene, and PP, and its PPH-T03 grade is a designated Dalian Commodity Exchange delivery brand.
