Lubrizol’s industrial thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) solutions will be showcased at Plastpol 2026 on May 19-22 in Poland under its European distributor IMCD.

One of many applications where TPU is delivering differentiated value with IMCD’s partnership is wire and cable, enabling safer, halogen-free cable designs to support consistent processing and high-quality aesthetics.

Turning processing challenges into performance gains, in one recent collaboration, an industrial and electrical vehicle (EV) charging cable manufacturer working with IMCD successfully overcame ongoing production challenges.

Persistent surface defects and process instability were impacting both product quality and line efficiency; issues that can slow down innovation and increase operational costs.

Through close technical partnership, IMCD’s expert team was able to optimize the process by stabilizing extrusion parameters across multiple lines, therefore achieving a more robust and consistent manufacturing window.

The use of Lubrizol’s halogen-free ESTANE TPU portfolio played a key role in enabling these improvements. The result was a clear step-change in performance: restored surface quality, improved process stability, and a measurable 3 to 5% increase in throughput.

“This case is a strong example of what becomes possible when material performance and technical support come together — and precisely the kind of collaboration we value in our partnership with IMCD” said Ivo Oerlemans, Business Director EMEA, Lubrizol Engineered Polymers.
