Fujian’s exports of plastic products to ASEAN up 9.7%

Driven by stronger global demand, Fujian Province’s plastic products industry is seizing new growth opportunities, Strait Herald reported.

Based on customs statistics, Fujian’s plastic product exports reached RMB 12.4 billion in the first four months of this year—up 11.7% year on year. In April alone, exports totaled RMB 3.52 billion, representing a 23.8% increase compared with the same period last year.

Private enterprises accounted for most of the province’s exports during the January–April period, shipping RMB 9.46 billion worth of plastic products overseas. That figure was up 14.1% year on year and made up 76.3% of Fujian’s total plastic product exports.

ASEAN remained Fujian’s top export destination. Shipments to the region totaled RMB 3.19 billion, up 9.7% year on year. By country, exports to Vietnam reached RMB 810 million (+41.8%), while exports to Thailand totaled RMB 480 million (+28.7%).
