Amcor accelerates healthcare packaging expansion in India
Amcor has commissioned a multi-million dollar production line at its manufacturing facility in Sira, Karnataka. The strategic investment strengthens the company’s capabilities in designing and developing high-performance healthcare packaging and patient-centric drug-delivery solutions, addressing rapidly growing demand across India and South Asia.
The new line significantly boosts production capacity and shortens lead times, enhancing operational flexibility and supply reliability for a diverse customer base that spans global pharmaceutical corporations and emerging local enterprises.
To ensure superior product quality and consistency, the expansion integrates advanced manufacturing technologies, including fully automated online vision systems. These systems will support the production of high-performance packaging solutions, such as ophthalmic containers and injectable vials.

Jean-Marc Galvez and Khasim Saheb, Managing Director of Amcor RPSI India, mark the official inauguration of the new manufacturing line at the company’s Sira facility.
Aligned with Amcor’s environmental commitments, the expansion introduces highly energy-efficient systems to further improve the facility's sustainability performance. The Sira plant operates entirely on 100% renewable energy and holds the prestigious International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS standard.
“This addition to our Sira plant reflects our strong progress in building world-class healthcare capabilities in India,” said Jean-Marc Galvez, Chief Operating Officer of Amcor’s Global Rigids Packaging Solutions division.
In addition to the Sira facility, Amcor operates three other dedicated healthcare packaging plants in India, including a major site in Bangalore. This upgrade marks the latest in a series of targeted healthcare investments across the Asia-Pacific region, following the recent launch of an advanced coating facility in Malaysia.
