Hongdian Machinery: Low-temperature pelletizing for heat-sensitive recyclate

Nov 2, 2026

Conventional pelletizing runs hot. At high melt temperatures polymer chains scission, so pellets come out yellowed with quality that drifts batch to batch, and power draw stays high enough that energy becomes a dominant cost line. Film, TPU, and PLA suffer most: overheat them and the material's properties degrade permanently, taking the recyclate's value with it.

Equipment built around one material compounds the problem — change the feedstock and the line jams, while commissioning stretches out and settings are found again from scratch.

Dongguan Hongdian Machinery Co., Ltd. (宏点机械), founded in 2014 in Dongguan, has built its range around one problem: how to pelletize without damaging the polymer and without spending more energy than necessary. Its competitive advantage is low-temperature extrusion combined with air-cooled hot-cut and air-cooled strand pelletizing, across single-screw, twin-screw, and complete recycling lines.

Low temperature, air cooling

Low-temperature extrusion holds the melt below the range where thermal degradation begins, preserving molecular weight and color. Air cooling replaces the water bath: strands or cut pellets cool in air, so the line needs no large cooling-water supply and consumes less. Air-cooled hot-cut and air-cooled strand discharge are both available, selected by material behavior.

The company summarizes the design target as high output, high pellet density, and high stability, with low processing temperature, low energy use, and low failure rate.

Material range

Coverage spans PP, OPP, PE, PVC, TPU, PS, CPE, PC, and PLA — commodity plastics alongside the heat-sensitive grades conventional lines handle poorly. Rapid material switching is available, so a plant running mixed or changing feedstock does not re-engineer the line each time.

Trials before purchase

Hongdian operates an in-house material testing center. Customers send scrap samples; the team runs them under simulated production conditions and reports plasticizing behavior, pellet appearance, throughput, and energy consumption, so the buyer sees finished pellets and projected returns before committing capital.

A degradable packaging manufacturer working with PLA scrap — a material that decomposes readily under heat — used the center to establish low-temperature parameters and confirm the recyclate met in-house reuse specifications before ordering. The line then commissioned successfully in a single on-site run, closing the loop on the plant's own scrap.

Process support

Thin, light film tends to clump, so pretreatment is specified alongside low-temperature extrusion to keep feeding stable; heat-sensitive materials get a tightly controlled processing window. Service runs from installation and operator training through spare parts and remote technical support. Equipment is CE certified and exported to Europe and Southeast Asia.
