Toray Plastics (America) announces lab analysis services for packaging and industrial films

Source:Source: CPRJ Editorial Team Date :2017-05-31 Editor :(VC)

Toray Plastics (America), Inc. announces that it now offers its comprehensive analytic testing of films, laminations, and finished printed structures to all consumer packaged goods companies and converters.

According to Toray, its wide array of sophisticated lab equipment and in-depth analysis capabilities, combined with its extensive knowledge of packaging and industrial film manufacturing and industry acumen, provides customers with data and insights that can inform their strategic planning decisions for business growth.

The data gathered can help customers develop new product platforms to strengthen their market position and identify key suppliers. The information can also allow them to optimize their production processes, says Toray.

As introduced, analyses offered include microscopy, materials and mechanical characterizations, rheology, physical, optical and appearance testing, surface properties, permeation, environment challenges, film processing, and structure.

Reverse engineering analysis of OPP packaging structures is frequently sought by customers. That request typically involves a combination of several different tests such as seal testing, FTIR, DSC, SEM, and TGA for inorganic loading identification. PET film customers often request TMA testing for thermal performance. Specialty test methods are performed either according to ASTM standards or Toray's own internal test methods.

"CPGs and converters have a vested interest in 'knowing before they go' when it comes to driving their film business," says Bridget Hanafin, Senior Analytic Chemist, Toray Plastics (America), Inc. "The fluid, complex nature of film technology makes analysis and data vital for success. Toray's lab test services have provided valuable results that our customers have used to make informed decisions about their production processes and how to best position themselves in the market. "
