Multivac highlights R 105 thermoforming packaging machine at Fruit Logistica 2016

Dec 11, 2015

At Fruit Logistica 2016, Germany-based Multivac will highlight its R 105 thermoforming machine for the packaging of salads, fruit and vegetables.

As introduced, the R 105 thermoforming packaging machine is an entry-level model that can produce MAP and vacuum packs.

Multivac will present its FreshSAFE packaging concept on the R 105 at the show. The machine is equipped with a perforator for producing FreshSAFE packs, and this unit perforates the upper web during the packaging procedure to suit the requirements of the product.

The upper web perforation enables the atmospheres inside and outside the pack to be exchanged, so that an equilibrium atmosphere (EMAP) is produced in the pack, explained the company.

As a result, fruit and vegetables as well as salads remain fresh for a longer time without the addition of preservatives.

The inline perforator also has the benefit that standard films can be used and pre-perforated films do not have to be stocked.

Fruit Logistica 2016 will be held in Berlin, Germany from February 2-5.
