Bemis acquires Brazilian plastics packaging manufacturer

US-based Bemis Company, Inc. announced the acquisition of rigid plastic packaging operations of Emplal Participa??es S.A. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Emplal, a privately-owned Brazilian manufacturer of plastic packaging for food and consumer applications, recorded annual net sales of approximately US$58 million.

"This acquisition supports our growth strategy to expand in markets that fit our strengths and capabilities," said William F. Austen, President and CEO of Bemis Company, Inc. "We look forward to integrating these two facilities, which complement our manufacturing capabilities in the region, into our business during 2016. We expect this acquisition to be modestly accretive to earnings per share in 2016."
