Sonoco develops new dispensable packaging system
Sonoco Alloyd, part of Sonoco Display and Packaging, a unit of global packaging company Sonoco, has developed a new package that allows easy dispensing of product and convenient storage of unused portions.
The patent-pending packaging design is reportedly the first of its kind to combine thermoformed technology with a sliding lid.
Sonoco's new DivvyPack dispensable packaging system allows careful, singular "divvying" of product for multi-count packages. The lid slides away without opening completely, making it easy to dispense a singular product from a multi-product package.
Interlocking channels along the sides of the sliding lid and tray allow for easy, one handed opening and reclosing of the package, with an audible snap when locking closed.
In addition, the package combines easy-open technology with tamper evidence, reassuring consumers that their product is protected.
The format is ideal for not only standard multiple-quantity packaging, but also special use cases like club store packaging and gift-with-purchase promotions, stated Sonoco.
"Our newest packaging innovation is the result of intense insight gathering, developmental ideation and market interaction so we can provide our customers with a differentiated competitive advantage that will better their brands," said Kim Goyke, Marketing Specialist, Sonoco Alloyd. "This purpose-driven packaging meets the unique needs of customers in a wide variety of markets."
The DivvyPack package will be demonstrated at the upcoming Pack Expo 2015 tradeshow in Las Vegas, the US from September 28-30.
