ExxonMobil Chemical partners with Bosch to demonstrate production of packaging pouch at Propak China 2014

Jul 15, 2014

A cast polypropylene (cPP) film using Vistamaxx performance polymers from ExxonMobil Chemical and converting technology from Bosch Packaging Technology (Hangzhou) Co. Ltd. can produce a packaging pouch with high integrity.

The solution will be demonstrated at Bosch's booth at Propak China 2014, taking place in Shanghai, China from July 16-18.

Bosch will produce a confectionery packaging pouch using a three-layer, 40 micron laminated cPP film that has been enhanced with Vistamaxx performance polymers.

Compared to conventional cPP film, a Vistamaxx polymer-enhanced cPP film improves packaging integrity and seal strength. Energy use can also be reduced due to the low seal initiation temperature of Vistamaxx.

Faster packaging line speeds are possible due to a broad hot tack window and the film provides good horizontal form fill and seal (HFFS) machinability, said ExxonMobil Chemical.

At Propak, Bosch will also demonstrate a 60 micron, laminated freezer film with good sealing performance and optical properties.

The film comprising Exceed metallocene polyethylene (mPE) and Enable mPE resins in the two outer layers, and Exceed mPE and ExxonMobil high density polyethylene (HDPE) in the core, offering a balance between toughness and stiffness.

The US chemicals company said it leads to downgauging opportunities, good vertical form fill and seal (VFFS) machinability and high packaging integrity.
