First Global Automotive Lightweight Materials Series conference inaugurates in Shanghai this March

Jan 10, 2014

The first Global Automotive Lightweight Material Series conference, organized by the London Business Conferences Group (LBCG), will take place from March 26-27 in Shanghai, China.

The conference aims at driving down the cost of attaining, designing and applying lightweight materials including high strength steel, aluminum, magnesium and composites, to enable the mass production of lightweight, fuel efficient vehicles in Asia.

Day one of the program will focus on the development of low cost, high volume lightweight vehicles on a global platform, highlighting strategies, assessing regional supply capabilities and examining the costs, availability and performance of high strength steel, aluminum, magnesium and composites.

Day two tackles the "Implementation & Engineering of Lightweight Materials". Speakers will deliver practical solutions for forming and joining of these lightweight materials on a global platform.

The list of speakers include Ma Fangwu, Vice President of Geely Automotive Research Institute, Geely; Xuefeng Dong, Deputy Chief Engineer, FAW R&D Centre; Masaya Endo, Deputy General Manager Strategic Lightweight Design Group Advanced Vehicle Engineering Department, Nissan; Kyoso Ishida, Manager of Vehicle Development Division, Mazda, to name but a few.

The automotive industry in Asia will see exponential growth over the next 10 years and, with the introduction of stage IV emissions standards in China, the need to develop low cost, high volume lightweight vehicles has never been more urgent, noted LBCG.
