SIBUR plans to enter the automotive components market

Jul 9, 2010
The company "Plastic", which is affiliated with Russian petrochemical group SIBUR in the Tula region, and the SOLLERS group of companies have signed a letter of intent, which identifies the main directions of the future cooperation between these two parties with respect to the production and supply of automotive components.

SOLLERS is a Russia-based automotive holding company, which provides a full range of services in the automotive sector, ranging from the actual production to the sales and servicing of vehicles. The Company's manufacturing facilities have a production capacity of about 300,000 automobiles per year.

According to this new agreement, the company "Plastic" can deliver a total of 26 separate product items for different automobile parts in an overall volume of up to 4.5 thousand tons per year.

The relevant production facility of the company "Plastic" has successfully passed its evaluation audit, the results of which now allow the Company to supply its automotive components to the SOLLERS group of companies.

In the course of 2010, the parties will determine the specific conditions of the deliveries and the necessary additional equipments will be installed at the production facilities of the "Plastic" company. It is envisioned that the raw materials for the new production (e.g. polypropylene and high density polyethylene) will be supplied by enterprises affiliated with SIBUR. It is expected that the production of the automotive components shall begin in the first quarter of 2011.

To become fully acquainted with the necessary range of products offered by the Group, a team of specialists from "Plastic" paid a visit to the company SOLLERS-Yelabuga, where the production of the FIAT Ducato model is carried out.
