Marks & Spencer to use recyclable plastics for packaging

Marks & Spencer announced on January 15 its plans to restrict the use of recyclable and degradable plastics on packaging.
The move will focus on the use of four corn starch derived plastics: PLA, PP, PET and PE. In addition, the company will encourage the use of packaging materials from sustainable or recycled sources, for example cardboard, metal, glass and plastics.
As well, by 2012, Marks & Spencer targets to reduce the use of packaging and carrier bags by 25% and 33% respectively.
