Berry launches food packaging solution with 60% less plastic content

May 31, 2021

Berry Superfos has newly launched resource efficient food packaging solution that cuts plastic content by 60% compared to similar solutions. The new CombiLight pot meets increasing demand from food producers for packs that are lightweight, strong and responsible.

It is made using less fossil material because it sophisticatedly combines a plastic structure with coated natural fibres. Moreover, it is grease resistant and particularly suitable for dairy applications such as yogurt, cream cheese and cottage cheese. It is also good for other food products which do not require hot filling, including spreads, biscuits and confectionery.

Berry Superfos has launched CombiLight, a new circular solution for containers.

Søren Marcussen, Regional Director, Region Nordic of Berry Superfos, said, “The outstanding feature of this pioneering packaging solution is actually invisible. A fine plastic structure supports a coated fibre pot. We have been able to reduce the plastic content by 60% compared to other similar solutions. Still, CombiLight is strong, stable and compatible with existing filling lines.”

The lightweight packaging solution is membrane sealed and comes with several lid options. It is currently available in 210ml, 245ml, 460ml and 560ml sizes, with further sizes in development.
