Recyclable and refillable: Mono-material cosmetic packaging with 100% recycled content
Eastman, a specialty materials supplier, and ICONS|ICS, a supplier of cosmetic packaging solutions, launched the mono-material cosmetic compact which promotes eco-friendly packaging.

Eastman and ICONS|ICS launched the mono-material cosmetic compact.
The mono-material compact is made entirely from Eastman’s Cristal One Renew, an RIC1 resin with 100% certified recycled content, with recycled content allocated via ISCC-certified mass balance approach.
Its refillable design allows consumers to easily replenish their cosmetic products while the elimination of traditional metal hinges and pins also improves the recyclability of the compact.
Tara Cary, global cosmetics and personal care packaging manager at Eastman, said that the integration of design and materials expertise allowed the company to create innovative solution that addresses the growing consumer demand for recycled content and recyclability in packaging in a refillable application.
“The collaboration with Eastman aligns perfectly with our commitment to providing sustainable packaging solutions to the cosmetics industry,” added Dave Thompson, director of technical and design from ICONS|ICS.
The co-created mono-material cosmetic compact was recently displayed by Eastman at LUXE PACK Monaco in which it was nominate for LUXE PACK in green Awards in the eco-conceived packaging category.
