Mercedes-Benz to jointly invest US$2 billion in China

Mercedes-Benz plans to invest US$1.97 billion (RMB 14 billion), along with local partners, in the Chinese market, and it is committed to transforming the Chinese automotive industry, the German automaker announced in its WeChat channel.  

 

“China has always been a key pillar of our global strategy and is at the forefront of our electric transformation and intelligent innovation,” said Ola Kaellenius, chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG.

In China, the total investment by Mercedes-Benz and its local partners surpassed US$14 billion (RMB 100 billion) between 2014 and 2023.

 

"Together with our Chinese partners, Mercedes will continue to invest in China and inject new growth momentum to the development of its business in China and innovation worldwide," said Hubertus Troska, a member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG responsible for China activities.

 

Enrich local lineups with exclusive models

 

As early as 2025, Mercedes-Benz will debut new vehicle models in the Chinese market, some of which will be specifically customized for the Chinese market.

The exclusive models include an all-new long-wheelbase electric CLA, a long-wheelbase derivative of the GLE SUV, and a luxury electric van model.
