High-performance polyamide adopted in new eyewear series
Polyplastics-Evonik Corporation’s high-performance transparent polyamide TROGAMID has been adopted in the new eyewear series by Seiko Optical Products.
Seiko Optical Products sought new material possibilities from the early stages of development to achieve a thin, lightweight, and luxurious design that was difficult to realize with conventional acetate materials. Their attention turned to TROGAMID.

TROGAMID has been adopted in the new Seiko Light and Fitting – Black Leaf eyewear series.
TROGAMID is well suited for eyewear frame application. Its high toughness allows for thin, lightweight, and durable designs, providing a comfortable wearing experience.
A developer from the Frame Division at Seiko Optical Products commented: “When frames are heavy, they put pressure on the ears and nose during long wear. On the other hand, if they’re too light, they can lose their sense of luxury. TROGAMID enabled us to achieve both.”
Polyplastics-Evonik will continue to support product development across various industries, including eyewear, through the provision of high-performance resins.
